Depends on many factors. But I will give you well over a hundred bucks. Seriously, That is not enough information. Greatest Color? Size? Shape? Surface? Luster? I can't tell you the buyer without the little details.

Are you considering the pearl of unknown origin represented in this tantalizing Close Up? My fascination with that pearl is the suggestion that it might provide the first and only example of the mythical optical phenomenon known as 'orient' ever posted here at Pearl-Guide (or anywhere, for that matter).

To your question, Elizabeth Taylor would be within her rights to claim La Peregrina as the ultimate pearl. Hopefully its next owner will provide such an appropriate perch!

    Hi Tom
    Welcome.

So you got the pearl bug too?

I think the only way to sell it would be at a major auction house. One where the oil folks go. Of course it needs a certification, but you and dad know that.

Will you post a picture, now? Or later? I hope so!

    Smile Tom M Stern

    Hi,

This new member is my son, a brilliant university student who took one look at some of my newest certified pearls last week, developed a great passion, and has launched himself into the natural ocean pearl world. So I'll be giving him fatherly support and have advised him the guide is not a mercantile network.

    Best regards to all,
    Tom Stern,MD

Interesting.... I would like more suggestions on where I could find the right buyers. THE buyers, the biggest collectors. I am trying to find those who want the best so I can bring them the best. Any big names out there? Ways to contact them? And for Mikeyy, if you could, please tell me who the buyers would be for each of those categories...... And a note to all who might know of him, to avoid confusion in the future, I am Thomas M. Stern and my father is Dr. Thomas K. Stern...

Other than the auction markets as Admin has already advised, perhaps hiding rather than seeking is your best policy. These buyers are generally trophy hunters and you have to make it fun for them. What would definitely seem inappropriate are the usual trade channels, ie Tucson Gem Show, etc.

It sounds as if your son is anxious to get rid of your pearls. I thought you said he liked pearls?

This is true, but any member can email or PM you about what they see here. The main purpose of our wanting pictures is for educaional purposes and the elder Tom has pearls that are a fantastic education for most who haven't seen many certified natural pearls.

Dream pearl? Trophy pearl? The one I'd search high and low for? One with water.
