I left my beautiful cultured pearl ring with a jeweler for cleaning. When I got the ring back the pearls are cloudy. What did they do to the pearls and can the luster be restored?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the pearls are likely destroyed. They apparently used a chemical that destroyed the nacre. There is no way to regain lost luster...

You may want to see if they will replace the pearls for you. If they did ruin them, they should be responsible for replacement. I'm very sorry to hear that this has happened. Pearls are very delicate. Unfortunately, you can't turn back the luster on the pearls. I hope everything turns out well for you!
