Storing pearls in original box?

I just got a Freshadama strand, and I'd like to keep it in the box. Will enough air get into the box if it is closed? I live about 4 blocks from the ocean, so the air is fairly moist, and I have been taking them into the bathroom with me when I shower to keep them happy.

Do you recommend an open box? Or is it okay to keep them in original box?

I keep mine in their PP box, in a drawer. Neither is airtight, so they will get whatever humidity is in the air.
