    Default My first self-made necklace!

Waw! I got my first self-made necklace ready.

I got for nothing a very long clumsy line of very small (4-5mm) grey pearls, which was hard as a wire. And 110 inches long. It was either throwing it away, or making DIY job, first time. A weekend of finger practicing but i got it!!! First time, not perfect but it is now quite trendy, in spite of non-discript pearls.

It is almost 3 meters long now, can be used in many rows. The main difficulty was connections between the separate threads. I almost got my fingers glued together forever when I tried to put just a drop og glue on the connecting knots

Wow! That is a lot of knotting for someone doing it for the first time!

    Nice strands!

that is really going for it, Olga!! Great job!

You could even hang an enhancer over several strands to change the look.

Valeria, I just let it hang low in 3 rows as in films about 1920-s

Pattye, good idea about enhancers! - any creative idea what can it be?

    Olga,
It's lovely. Congrats. on a fabulous long, long rope.
Enhancers - I use old costume brooches and pin them around two (or more if the brooch is a large one) strands to create different looks.

Well, if you want to make your own, you can purchase an enhancer bail, they just snap open, fold over a strand or 2 of your pearls, and snap shut, there you go! Looks like you could use any of your favorite gemstones, as long as they are drilled, a headpin and the bail. I don't remember if you are doing a little wire work?

No, this is my absolutely first experience, I still have to find out where I can get all this stuff here

About old brooches - Sueki, this is really a finding, I am going to dig in my treasures.

    Thanks for the ideas!

Olga, have a look in the flea markets, antique and vintage costume jewellery stalls. And enjoy the search !
    Now I'm off for dinner.
