Default Man's Bracelet (so I say)

I had Kirsten help me at PearlParadise with making a bracelet I could wear. I wanted it to be on the rugged-side (as much as pearls can achieve that). She found some great baroque silver Tahitians and put this together for me. I'm very happy with it. The pearls a more metallic looking in person. I won't wear it very often, but it goes great with my black suit and made an outing for a dinner party. Interestingly, Kirsten said that she was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and told them about making the bracelet for me - I wonder if it will start a trend?

    That's HOT!!!

And now that I think about it, it looks right because you are wearing a formal shirt. It isn't a tee shirt kind of a bracelet. That would be a hemp strand with one or more pearls knotted into it.

Thanks - you can tell I'm looking for validation on the idea of a guy wearing the bracelet I really do like it. It is a fun piece!

    Hi John,

it looks great and I think with formal clothing a Tahitian bracelet is the very best choice you can make. Have you thought of wearing it on the opposite side (left wrist if you are right-handed) to make sure it does not get scratched too much? There are a couple of posts about this! Now you have to get yourself a really large, circled Tahitian to have with a silk cord or leather string for a necklace, in case you havenīt got it already!

    That's fabulous, John.
And you know what ? Those pearls look so right on a man's wrist, too.
Almost as if they were intended for men....

Very nice pearls and bracelet, but they dont get my man vote, sorry.

Not so much the pearls, but bracelets in general. They dangle and get in the way too much.

    Thumbs up

Very bold John. I especially love the clasp! I may have to do something like that for my husband. He's been talking about 'man jewelry' this year. Thanks for the terrific idea!

It's just not my cup of tea. A bracelet on a man is fine. Pearls on a man is fine. But the design of that bracelet strikes me as being odd for a man. Now, that being said, I never liked earrings on a man either ... then came Rob Thomas. Waabaa-shaazamm!!

Well... most of the guys around wear dark suits and white shirts. I'd WISH there was a bracelet or two like that one peaking from under those bland cuffs with their dull knot links

Seriously now. Cable knit sweater & gunmetal gray pearls? 'Bet most guys could pull that look as well as I can

[PS: written after large glass of mulled wine - almost Christmas, right ]

Thanks for all the feedback. It is not something that I will wear very often, but for times I am dressed up, it seems a nice fit. I debated on the right wrist vs left wrist. I wear my watch on my left wrist, though, that seems more likely to get beat up over there. Since I'm not going to be writing novels wearing the bracelet, I think I can keep it safe. I have to do a lot of business socializing, so I think at those type of settings it will be fine.

Inge/CliClasp, I do have the Tahitian on a leather choker. I wear that to work when I don't need a tie (which, thankfully, is getting more frequent).

CliClasp - that bracelet looks hot. I'm going to have to follow up with you on that.

Valeria, I'm with you on the mulled wine. It is snowing here as I type and I am heading to the fireplace to start my own glass.

    Happy holidays, everybody,
    John

John's right, CliClasp! That bracelet would look great on a man.

But I'd love one of your black necklaces with a single white South Sea Pearl.

    Hi GemGeek

Do you mean like that ?

The white pearl is a 14,9 mm Broome

Also white pearl on white silicon would be great ! what is your opinion?
