    Default Found my Tahitian monsters!

I know this is just a teaser, since I don't have photos yet, but wanted to report that I found my monster pearls in French Polynesia! Even an 18mm to celebrate my 18th anniversary. That one is dark green, also got a 17+mm in a champagne with rosy and greenish overtones, and another 17+mm in deep bronze with rose overtones. Going to try to take some pics so I can share. Just wanted to report ... I'm basking in the afterglow...

Also got to meet Josh - he may not be growing monsters at this point, but the color and luster of his babies are truly out of this world!

Oh yeah, the diving was REALLY spectacular, too (mantas! 100s of sharks! 15 dolphins! hawkbill turtles! !!!!)

Back to pearls - it was fun, fun, fun, I'm very poor now, but happy, and I'll try to take and post photos soon.

    Hi Sheri,
Just wanted to say that we are growing monsters, just not in the first graft, like the pearls you saw. The big daddies come in the second and third graft. Enjoy your bombs.

Thanks for setting me straight, Josh! I see that Care Ehret has a couple of your circle pearls listed that do approach monster status. Looking forward to seeing more of your second/third graft babies down the line.

In the meantime, here are a couple photos of the monsters I got on Bora Bora and Moorea last week. The largest three range from 17.2mm to 18.1mm.

Yikes! Those are some bombs. The color, luster and surface quality look very good too. Score.

Yeah, the luster is pretty darn good, isn't it? I could practically use the large ones as a mirror to pluck my eyebrows!

Considering your expertise and the beauties you produce, Josh, I'm quite pleased that you approve...

And yes, Sueki, the whole pearl-buying-while-on-trip was an absolutely wonderful experience, if a bit pricey...can't wait to do it again, once the pocketbook recovers...

    Wow Sheri! Those are Gorgeous!

Will you have them made into jewellery now? I see the large Aubergine one is already a pendant.
    Just Fantastic!

I actually bought the five unmounted pearls with the idea of suspending them in the same order (smallest at top to largest at bottom) for a single dazzling pendant. I loved the variety of colors together. Lots of people think of Tahitian pearls as black or grey. I had the pearls fully drilled with the intention of using high karat gold wire to go through the holes with wire-wrapped loops at either end so the pearls would move fluidly. That also gives me total flexibility to make them into something else down the line. I know the multi-monster-pearl-pendant may seem a tad ostentatious to many, but I'm 6feet tall with an extremely long neck, so somehow the monsters look proportionate on me. Maybe I'll post a glamour shot once it's put together. Of course, to really show them off to advantage, I should probably be wearing one of my corsets

There's this horizontal idea floating around... it is the first thing that came to mind when after the instant 'WOW' Yours sounds better through.
