This choker length 41cm (16in) Mikimoto necklace has 58 x Akoya cultured pearls of 6.4mm to 6.0mm, of very high quality. I cannot find a single blemish, and they look like they've never been worn. I'll be conservative and call them AA's under the Mikimoto pearl grading system (see: http://www.mikimotoamerica.com/about...rading-system/ ) It was a very good day when I got these in an antique shop, unrecognised as Mikis, for $200.

The silver clasp is marked "M" and "SIL". I'd date this clasp to the 1960's to 1970's. I believe this style of clasp was among the last generation of clasps before Mikimoto made silver clasps obsolete (They now use only gold and platinum).

The 14k gold enhancer is marked "M" and "K14". This was a brooch with a damaged clasp, which my jeweler removed. The enhancer clip is a 14k yellow gold finding with a 14k white gold front. It's a nice match and now looks like an original fitting. The gold work on those grape leaves is a very fancy combination of textures and frosting, with a fine milgrain edge. A most successful design by Mikimoto IMHO.

The red velvet fitted case is a Mikimoto standard design of the period. It was the icing on the cake to pick this up for free in a side deal on some other items.

Going to love this thread but I better rest...Dr gain tomorrow.

I have that retangular Sil. It case with a green velvet box & I think mine was 60's but could have been 70's.
Great 22 inch A+ Cream w silver 7mm to 9mm 22 inch...The guy at Mikimotos was in love with the almost 9mm pearl.

    I have A Grade 7.7mm studs from 2005 & a vintage dress clip in K9 WG...ancient that I have listed on ebay.

Such a small item in comparison to those listed above but I thought I would add my 7.5mm Miki studs. These are my first pearls! A gift from my mum and purchased in Japan. I wore these on my wedding day.

My Miki earrings are rated Pinkish Silver A & have pink & blue with a violet wah but it never seems to come out in pics.
In fact mostt pearls never really show well in photos & those that do seem to show better than they actually are.

Thanks Camelotshadow, BWeaves and Katbran! They are Q2 quality (Miki Japan system) which equates to A+/AA under the US system.

Nice! I thought my earring were A+ but the certificate says A Pinkish Silver...They were $390 which was not too bad for 7.5 to 8mm in 18K 1/22/ 2005.
They are actually closer to 7.8mm
They were the only ones with silver overtone in that size & price range. A is decent & much better than a average earring.

    7.5 mm is now $620...
    8mm is $680

    Price has almost doubled

My graduated to 5.1 to 8.8mm strand with silver clasp appraised A+ on 1/22/2005 Cream with Silver for $2650 over a $1000 more than I paid but I did pay alot for a almost 50 year old strand. Luckily it turned out to be a really nice strand. Gosh that was a huge sum of money for me.

Default Mikimoto 18" strand and earrings

I purchased these last year from an online consignment store. I love ❤️ these, but admittedly need to wear them more.
