    Default Trisidos semitorla

    Hello,

This is my first post, showing a trisidos semitorla pearl, this is my second pearl in collection, for now I own 3 pearls.
I want to make a pearl plus shell collection, so I will have to find a trisidos semitorla specimen to match my pearl.
The color is about right on the picture, some bluish hue and a very bit translucent, there is a flame, but hard to see, it's more translucent than my cassis or spondylus pearls.
The size is about 7,5mm and quite round shape.

You have a great collection. Check the website "Conchology" https://www.conchology.be/ for your missing shell. Watch out -- you may end up buying more shells that you intended!

I've not seen a pearl like that before. Thank you for showing it to us! Please post pictures of your other two pearls so we can ogle those too!
You can never be too dressed-up.

The other is sold as a spondylus pearl, but I think seller probably made mistake, the shape, color and pattern is much closer to clam pearl (tridacna sp or hippopus sp) in my opinion.
The last is a cassis pearl, after I saw several pictured.

GemGeek - In particular this link to the more "common" name for the mollusk mentioned: https://www.conchology.be/?t=33&family=ARCIDAE or this one that takes you to a specific page for the species mentioned by the original poster https://www.conchology.be/?t=27&fami...ecies=Trisidos semitorta
