Jewelry safes/storage?

How do you folks store your jewelry and pearls? We're planning to start having a cleaning service come to our house, but my husband is insistent that I get some kind of safe for my jewelry first. I'm poking around but would love some recommendations.

I have a Liberty safe. The Lincoln model. 1200 pounds and has extra fire protection so the pearls are safe. The number one things people say about the safes after they get them is, they wish they bought bigger. We did and left our old one in Georgia to sell the house and bought the largest Lincoln. You will find all sorts of things and papers you want to keep safe.

If you have a business they are a tax write off for your business.

We are just purchasing a big old dual-purpose gun safe since DH needed a way to store guns and I needed peace of mind for pearls and legal docs.

Mine are in a bank vault at the moment but then I'm in the process of selling my house..so everything small and of value is in storage.

I probably should get a safe, but I'm not sure where I would put it.

Most of our police are, happily, not armed with guns. We like deer meat too, and go to the butchers to get it

Thanks for the great info on safes and storage, guys. I'm going to look into one, preferably one that fits several trays of jewelry organizers. lilliefuzzysocks that's a good point re: the tax write-off. I might be closing my etsy shop this year but it's a good option if I don't.

Jeremy my husband did manage to add a room in our basement. Maybe he can modify the door for me

I don't see the point of having pearls you don't wear without forward planning. Plus it's living scared all the time

Battah, you can actually get a reinforced door, which can essentially turn a closet into a safe/saferoom.
