Yea! You are very fortunate. I was once without power for nearly a week after a thunderstorm. I hope the rest of Florida is repaired quickly.

Oh, BWeaves... so happy to hear you're safe!!!
I've been wondering all morning, but I had a series of meetings beginning at 7am, and couldn't check in until now, 12:30p pacific time.

I'm so, so glad everything is ok with you, BW! This storm really freaked me out. Glad all's well and it sounds like the damage is minimal.

Yes! Such a relief to hear from BWeaves! You were up before me, Helen, SO glad you let everyone know! Yesterday I happened on a video by a NC local weatherman who gave the best in depth explanation of Hurricane Irma I've seen; I'm someone who's mostly lived in the West where most concerning are earthquakes, flooding and volcanic action.

Glad you have your power back! My sister, who is 45 mins North of you, still does not have power and lost her avacado and other young fruit tree. She didn't sleep either, as she went out every 2 hours to lower the pool level to reduce the chance of flooding. We lost power for 5 days after Hurricane Sandy. It made me buy a generator! Glad to see you post, thought of you this morning.

Please send good thoughts to Puerto Rico (US Virgin Islands and the Caribbean)
I am really concerned about family and friends in PR, I just hope some stroke of luck things are okay. Crazy, ironic thing is I'd be there right now on extended vacation but for fate.

Keeping Puerto Rico in our thoughts, BlackPearlDudeDC, and especially your family & friends. All the Caribbean, so sad ... and Mexico as well with the earthquakes ... it's a tough season this year. Sending you hugs; let us know how your circle of loved ones fare when you can.

My thoughts are with all the islands in the path of the hurricane. There's just no way to escape it easily when you're on an island. And those earthquakes in Mexico are devastating. At least with a hurricane you can try to plan ahead, but with an earthquake, you can't.

PD & CK Thank you so much. We've not heard from some of our family and friends for a few hours now. You all know the Island is completely without power, and earlier my cousin's cell died she would not be able to charge it. We also have an elderly family friend that refused to leave his home even though we begged him. So I'm hanging on hope, again thank you much.
