Jeremy I'm curious about those pearls - are they left in the oyster for eeeeextra long for them to get this big (and if so approximately how many years), or are they freak of nature and some sort of mutation? Any insights?

I don't know. He looks like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

But he does look like an Alphonse.

I just love naming pearls. I don't name my other jewelry, just the pearls.

Jeremy - were those enormous pearls solid ? I'm astonished ! And the price ...holy moly . But given the rarity I guess it's understandable. No one would blink if you were holding 2ct diamonds and said they were $35000 each ..we just aren't used to single cultured pearls being that much.

Wendy - hilarious ..Alphonse ! I feel like you should use a bit of gold and put some ears and a mouth on him !

Wait, I know who Alphonse reminds me of . . . Grommit!

I think it's the way the shadow falls across the "nose" in that last photo.
