Cathy - you can always put the cost of your own purchases down to marketing & advertising - seems to work for me - I think I keep my husband in the dark, but seriously I think they are probably all very aware of how many pearls we have!!

And yes, Wendy, you are right, it is normal!

Thanks everyone! Her name is, Pearl (of course). Remember, I just got the pearl bug this spring. There is very little in the picture that is mine to keep, mostly they are mine to sell, with the object being to earn more to keep. I just dropped my daughter off at college, so the keeping part is a little farther in the distance, ouch. I am in NYC and with some help from my PG friends will add to the pile this week. That will also help offset my costs for being here, since it will also be a buying trip. I also have some other things up my sleeve, and hope to have my website refilled from the summer's big sell out in Michigan. Maybe I'll have to give my avatar a friend! Anyone else for pearl pictures instead of pictures of pearls?

When Gandhi died he had 13 items total in or on his presence. He owned nothing else. We do not know but probably his wife had about 30 when she passed away. It's a long dark, hidden secret. (Probably 15 of the 30 were pearl necklaces, naturals of course.)

No offense intended to anyone.

My husband often falls for pieces and gets sad when they are sold, but happy that they are then paid for. I guess I could ask him to buy them if he really likes them, but somehow that seems...odd, and I would have to give him such a discount. Actually, it's hard to sell to family and friends, because I want to give them such a deal, and I have to weigh what I have in the piece versus what I could make by selling to a normal person. I often make my family discounts based on how popular I the piece has been or I think it will be - projected profit, I guess. I also make and give pieces to those family and friends that have been good costumers. I love to make something specifically for someone, that's so much fun to match personality and taste to a piece.

Oh Dear.
Well there's no hope for me then; every single pearl I own screams "keep me".
And I very often do.
Thank Heavens I'm not Jeremy.
