Jealousy strikes. Congrats on these!
Let us know your favourite, Babypearl. Why it would matter to us I absolutely don't know, but as pearl obsessed as we all are, it's always nice hearing what pearls rock others' boats.
The greys are all lovely. I love how sharp the lustre is on the akoyas from PP then we have the satiny tahitians and now the creamier ones from Amrita. Nice. And great to see them all lined up...
Super cool, Sheri. Now we have nice comparison of pearls and tattos across the eras!
Wow, Marianne, you are good! You can even date them from the shape of the beads :) That means faceted gems are modern day 'evolvements'...?
amazonite of a lesser quality tend to be this sort of blue (well, a tad darker) but less even in colour, and definitely more grainy.
other robin egg blue beads are turquoise (these aren't) and...
Fully agree. I spied in chi-chi Mon^$%# at Marina Bay Sands, a South Sea Pearl necklace that was going for $40,000. Ridiculous. Here in Singapore, woe is the unsuspecting and uneducated consumer :)
I am obsessed with this image - gloriously huge tahitians juxtaposed with baroque diamond pendants and rococo lace (tattoo) sleeves. Now this should bring pearls to the young ones :)
Problem is,...
That's a nicely graduated one. Tahitian or Australian SSP you think?
Adidaem. I had to laugh about the PJ shot! I am with you on that one. Often I go shooting in my PJs and pray the reflection in the pearls' surfaces can't capture me in mine.
Those are lovely...
Cool, pic, pls :)
Hmm this thread needs some rejuvenation...
Does anyone mind me doing a plug for beadersand artisans on another platform? Here are some pearl designs that I have acquired from/ on Etsy in the last...
I'd like to see an example of a chalky pearl that has gone off. Anyone has one?
hey kat, he shipped it to oregon where i send all my US buys to. it gets forwarded then on to singapore.
i used to use http://www.myus.com/ to forward my US stuff on to melbourne. lots of savings...
they are lovely, amrita. the price is simply too intimidating for me.
wonder how many of us have bitten, so far.. 'fess up, PGers.
Thanks, Pattye for the correction. Yes, tissue, not un-nucleated! Shame on me. :o
The biwas are most certainly in a class of their own, I am completely delighted to own them. May I add that...
No pictures, Babypearl. We have a common background :) When posting pics on your post, after the text has been input, go to "Advanced" and then "Select File" etc etc.
I happy to share that for affordable earrings findings that are contemporary in design, I really like the South Korean companies (quality gold plate) who apparently make their stuff in Singapore (I...
Ahh, Lisa, nothing more satisfying than a good win from Rob. 12.7mm? Can do. Go for it as earrings! Allow mw but these lobes so far have put up with 15mms bead nukes everyday and so far so good,...
These arrived when I was out of town and I finally took the pictures, Caitlin and Pattye!
Here are the 'vintage' (vintage in my book; I was a kid with my nose in Enid Blytons in the 80s) biwas...
As you said, lustre is very important. Agreed.
As for size, I really feel it depends on what she's into since she's of medium build. Have you noticed any necklaces that she seems to wear more...
What a sweet thread. Take lots of pictures of the entire process and we sincerely wish you all the best! May you find a gobsmacker of a stunner for that said ring.
OoOo dancing globules on the wrist! SOOO dangerous when one is driving and admiring...
Great job with them beauties, Amrita.
Loving this thread. Pearling greats, please feel free to shed light on these freshwater Edison pearls with more pictures! ;)
Amrita, am curious; are you talking low or mid 4 figures here......
Like Pattye, I adore the weird and odd shaped pearls and for baroques, BRING THEM ON. My own personal quirk is I dont do circled pearls. Plusses of baroques: cheaper than rounds and interesting. ...
