For South Sea pearls... not all pearls can have the luster improved. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact method used, just that it involves some machine/tool but I guess it's basically just...
It's hard to detect treatment on golden SSP... but on the first pic, the pearls look to be color treated, but not so much on other pics. It's just a guess and I'm nowhere near expert though, so don't...
Sounds great, please post a picture! :)
I think that's a good example! The luster is luscious, love it :)
I think sinju just mentioned an approximate, something like 10-11mm. Here in Indonesia, many sellers don't use calipers and only scales to determine (predict) the size so the number that customers...
Ooh I love them, great designs!! You can get so creative with irregular pearls :)
I personally wouldn't call satin luster as medium... Satin luster is characteristic of SSP, as their luster is like glow from within, while Akoya and FWP appear more on the surface. I think golden...
10mm round SS pearl is usually about 1.5gr.. 1.8gr will make it at least 10.5mm and above. Just based on my experience...
Based on my experience, $5K is fair price for SSP in that size and near perfect strand. But no matter what online store you decide on to purchase, always ask for the picture of the actual strand with...
Wanna share some of recent work from the goldsmith I'm working with. I sketched the design on paper, explained the details, and he worked on it fairly quick.
This ring is kinda OTT, it's a request...

Once I wanted to buy some freshies there, fortunately I changed my mind...
Thank you for the nice comments, everyone! Strong rose overtone itself is quite rare, but to have rose overtone and orient like this is even more rare in SSP. So I think they're quite special pair.

Thank you for sharing, you wrote good article and the pics are nice. Also you did good job at knotting! :)
Thought I'd share here. Came across these beauties and I just couldn't resist them. They're about 14mm, almost round, surface isn't perfect and the bottom are a bit flat but luster is simply amazing....
I'm impressed with the luster, even with the black background which usually subdued the luster on the pictures, your pearls still look very pretty. Especially considering they're vintage since many...
That's too bad that you have to return it. They look quite pretty on your picture even though I agree that they look different from the original picture pearllunar provided. But pearls are very hard...
Wow, that's some Wilma Flinstone's necklace right there!
Lovely neck, Dizzie! ;) Thank you for the neck shot, the necklace looks beautiful on you.
Selamat siang, terima kasih infonya Pak Sutrisno. Just yesterday I met with friends who are pearl wholesaler and they also mentioned the price for the new stocks have been very high (almost twice...
Lol, thank you Dizzie :D Hopefully the pearls will continue pleasing your eyes :)
I second that, would love to see the pendants, ring, bracelet, and other necklaces too :D
I also think the smaller pearl is better overall. Other than the obvious cleaner surface, I actually like the color better too. About the luster, from the pictures you provided, both pearls look...
The Tahitian necklace and SSP earrings look nice, you didn't get bad deal for those. The other necklaces (now confirmed to be SSP) have low luster, but the blemishes are not too bad/heavy.
Dizzie, you should look more into SS pearls, their beauty might not be as mysterious as Tahitian pearls, but they can be enchanting as well :D
Thank you Red, I'll keep an eye on green-gold SSP for...
I agree, very pretty necklace! Love the luster and color, congratulation on a great buy :D
