Same for me Pattye
I'm no expert on south sea pearls either but that's what popped into my head when I saw the photos. They are FABULOUS!
They might be okay for mixing with small pearls but they might squash if used with bigger ones. Its good they're seamless. If they have seams they can split open with wear.

I haven't noticed anything with my moss green powerpro, but I've had it a couple of years. I did try some rainbow braid, can't remember the brand, the colour came off on my hands as I unwound it, so...
Thank you Katbran. My aim is to try and get the photos as close to what my eyes see as I can.
No point in them looking better, cause then you'd be disappointed when you got them.
I live in Darwin and the light is pretty harsh here. If I photograph outside the pearls have too much shine and you can't see the colour, inside with a window either side and I get a grey cast over...
They're on temporary strands, usually about 16 inches long, roughly sorted; I usually have to rearrange them. I've noticed with these, every strand has been different so to make a rope its a matter...
I absolutely love these Chinese pearls too! I've spent way too much money on them, but I couldn't help myself. I've made myself a rope and a shorter strand and am wearing them very, very often. I'll...
I thought fakes too. Glad he's got shorts on.
I'm proud of you!
I must add... Thank you Caitlin!
Also for complex designs that would cost a bomb to have restrung, if you could find someone willing to do it, powerpro is ideal.
I know I've strung some longer...
Thanks to Caitlin's suggestion long long ago, I use powerpro too. I buy it from a fishing dealer, it feels the same as the stuff sold for beading, but I can get it on 300 yard rolls and in more...
Oh what a pity, it would have been beautiful before it broke. Fabulous photos though!
I've never drilled a pearls; the only way I've been able to do anything to the nacre involved a hammer and my driveway heh heh. I wasn't game enough to hammer one on the tile floor because I thought...
That is so well done. See! I knew yours would be better :o)
Oh I'm sorry :o(
I'm sure yours is much better. Like I bet you kept it up instead of forgetting it, leaving the taco sauce jar to get all dusty on the kitchen counter, and that you took photos...
After being in vinegar for about 8 months, then washed
(not all, some are in the jar still). The dark grey ones used
to be purple bronze ones, one still has some lustre, some look
chalky but...

He he.. choke! (Cleo) Every now and again we wash a few. In the beginning they still had great lustre, the lavender ones turned silver. They're sort of gooey. I'll wash some and see how they're...
My son Lucas was doing an experiment for school last year. We've had a small handfull of freshwater pearls in a jar of vinegar for about 7 months now. They're a bit slimy but not dissolved. He used...
oh I'm drooling!
I don't think it needs fixing.. its BEAUTIFUL! lol
Only way to know is try it. If its too thin for the drill holes, try doubling it or more. When you knot it the knots need to be big enough for the pearls not to slip (tug to check) over them.
I...
