I only checked because someone posted a comment on the pearl-professor's blog tonight calling everyone here on PG "hand picked hen pecked fools" on the Paspaley masion post.

For some reason, I am unable to open the Pearl-Professor.com - did anyone else have the same experience? After reading the posts in this thread I am most curious to read his blog, but just cannot get on. Am just wondering if this is a "China specific" problem?

Anonymous et all need to be aware that the laws of libel of England and Wales will apply to this forum. Since it is published in the jurisdiction (at least two people read it here and that is enough to found an action in the English High Court) I do recommend that all temper and are carefully prudent in all remarks both overt and innuendo

Gotcha Wendy, will limit myself to posting links ONLY. But there is more than the innuendo here. There are ip addresses, e-mail addresses and other internet tracks involved, ALL leading to the same name. I would say that is rock solid evidence, not innuendo.

Wendy, I thought in Britain, that if the lawsuit is found to be false or frivilous as in it can be verified that it is not libel, the person or persons bringing the suit are then made to pay all attorney and court costs?

BTW Jeremy I've never met you, talked to you, sent a personal message, nor have I directly answered a post you've made here. I did raise chickens when I grew up on a farm in Nebraska, I've been pecked a few times by those #$@(&* birds. Does that wualify me as one of your hen pecked fools? From what I've seen it think it would be a great honor.

I am not sure what it takes to qualify, but as far as I know it is just an email account and a moniker that can be used to create an account here. Calling members hand-picked, hen-pecked fools is more than a bit odd in my opinion.

One of the reasons I believe I recognized the author was the odd use of the ellipsis and the lack of hyphenation with the compound modifiers. It just looked familiar.

Yes, but I can't think of a case where a libel was so found. London is known as the libel capitol of the world because the law is so biased in favour of the plaintiff - and, to clarify, Jeremy would probably have more of a cause of action if he wanted to bring one than anyone else, because of some of the stuff on the CPAA website and other places. Calling yourself anonymous will not offer any protection
all a plaintiff in a libel case in England has to prove is that the words were published to one person other than the two involved, that the words are capable of bearing a defamatory meaning and that the plaintiff can be identified as the person being written about. That is it.
Not that there has been actual injury or financial loss or that your friends laugh at you or that sales suffer. No, just those three things then sit back and collect the tax frees

I considered a case among other things when I realized pearldiver52865 was not a B&M jeweler but actually Mastoloni on the CPAA thread. But instead I decided to simply send a letter to Mr. Mastoloni himself detailing what I had found and requesting an apology for the comments.

Dear Mr. Mastoloni and Mr. Bazar,

I am writing to both of you regarding some posts that appeared on the CPAA forum last week. I hope this kind of thing does not happen again. I suggest we maintain an open dialogue and peaceful coexistence instead of resorting to public argument.

Mr. Mastoloni, I know PearlDiver52865 was not a B&M retail jeweler but someone at Mastoloni in New York City. This is not an assumption on my part, I have solid proof.

I have decided to request an apology from you directly for your negative and false comments about me, my company and my product. I would rather not publish my evidence. If you agree to apologize, please reply to this email today and fax a detailed apology to my attention at 310-474-8747.

Mr. Bazar, I sincerely hope you did not know in advance of PearlDiver52865's posts on the CPAA forum, that the poster was in fact at Mastoloni and not a B&M wholesale customer of yours. If you want screenshots of my proof, I would be happy to provide them.

What I received in response was far from an apology. In fact, the first response from Edward included an insult and a statement that PearlDiver52865's comments were "not out of line".

A lawsuit is not worth it to me. The truth came out and that is enough. I believe there are way too many lawsuits in this country as it is, and I have better things to do with my time.

Its just so sad that desperation will lead people (in this case, Mastoloni) to do and say such tasteless untruths.

Personally, I wouldn't spend so much time, energy and thoughts for these kinds of people. They just aren't worth it all. I think we need to leave something for the Universe to do......what goes round comes round.... Also, reminds me of a saying that we have in India which roughly translates as - "if someone tries to spit on the sky, the spit will actually fall on his own face"
