| Caitlin and Jeremy, Such a desperate and foolish thing! Caitlin, I agree that a company must be in big financial trouble to stoop so low. I never read wikipedia anyway, as just anyone can put stuff there. Jeremy, I support you, along with so many others in dealing with this as forcefully as possible. Pattye so many pearls, so little time |

| I am not quite sure how it exactly sounds in English but there is a wise saying: 'Dogs bark but the caravan is going'. No dogs, whoever they are, can stop the caravan, Jeremy ![]() Last edited by olmander; 03-09-2008 at 07:35 PM. |

| Jeremy: I think you know that almost everyone here on the pearl guide has great faith in Pearl Paradise and especially in you. We know that a company such as PP is ethical because good values come from the top. We have seen the products of your hard work. We have benefitted long term from your good principles, kindness and generosity. We have been well treated by your staff and your self. You have proven your self many times over as a person of good character with a company of good policies. I cannot speak for everyone else on this forum but I can say with others that I support you in dealing with this. barbie |

| Thanks for all your comments. I was not really concerned with what was said. Anyone who happened upon it would certainly be able to see that it was competitor-generated, and I cannot imagine a consumer would have been drawn to Premium Pearl after reading it. What shocked me was the fact that it was so brazen. It just seemed too unbelievable. Regarding legal recourse, there really is none. If it were so important to us I guess we could attempt to subpoena the proxy service if we could narrow it down to a single one. But that is not easy to do. They are created for that purpose. They do not give up clients easily. After going through all that we may just find that a public computer was used. I have gone through something like this before with an individual from Japan. Some long-time members probably remember when we blocked an entire IP range from Asia because someone by the name of Akie Ogiu was attempting to hack this site. This person was a mentally unstable individual who had been stalking me and my family for about nine years. Three years ago I involved the FBI and this person was just sentenced in Japan last month to one a half years in prison with three years of probation. Needless to say, the amount of effort involved in that case was substantial. I am so grateful to my friends (we got to know each other very well) at the FBI in Los Angeles who worked so hard to make that happen. But even though the entire experience was a true nightmare, I learned a lot about the law, both from the US and Japan. If Premium Pearl really did edit that wiki page I can only assume they damaged their own reputation so much more than ours. That was my initial thought when I read it, and one of the main reasons I was so shocked.

| I have to echo the shock and disbelief of the other members regarding this. It is obviously a desperate act by someone without any honor or decency. I have been a customer of PP for 3 years and have had nothing but the best service from Jeremy and his staff. Everything I purchased from them has been of great quality. |

| Unbelievable. My first instinct also would have been that someone was out to make them look bad, because it's just so amazingly juvenile and unprofessional. But if they've acted similarly in the past, I guess it's possible? It just seems crazy that anyone would actually think it's a brilliant marketing strategy. Perle |

| I think it's pretty pathetic! Anyone who googles Jeremy's PP is going to end up at this forum somewhere along the line, and will take less than 2 minutes to work out that this is an ethical business..... If I read anything like the malicious drivel that was written in that site, I would think it could only be saying something about the author, not about the subject of the juvenile slander. I just can't believe someone who is supposedly running a business would stoop to that.... totally pathetic! |
| ||||
| There is also this to consider: the slanderous edits created a distraction and a demand on Jeremy's time and energy-- time that might have been spent instead on operating his pearl business. Perhaps the less time spent on this, the better for PP-- especially since there is no practical legal recourse. |

| What strikes me the most about this is the irony. In Premium Pearl taking the time to do this, they have generated a storm of interest about their integrity. I am not a customer of Pearl Paradise so I don't have that sort of interest in this topic. I have been lucky to get to know Jeremy on a personal level and can not speak higher of an individual in terms of personal integrity. An attack on that and his company can do nothing but backfire and leave him walking away, shining. |

| I still have an impression that this might be rather a random personal attack, just using the first known company (this time Premium Pearls) as an example. Maybe even doing it on purpose to downgrade the PP to the level of a much weaker company. Just because NO(!) head of a company in a healthy mind, even being negative and jealous, would expose himself like that, ESPECIALLY in a difficult financial situation. I would rather look at the list of offended PP customers... |

| This is obviously mean slander. I always thougth there was something you can do about slander. Bad customer service is one thing. That a company can fix on their own without taking "low blows and pot shots" are an entirely different matter... It has all the earmarks of a "petty revenge scheme" someone feeling like they have been wronged by Jeremy personally, either "bad service" which Jeremy would do his best to fix. OR my bet someone more likely "caught doing something they oughtn't have been doing" and took "their demise" personally. It does not make sense If a company like this has spent so much time cultivating a "good reputation" then what is the point of doing this type of thing? Plain and simple It just does not add up. Cheers Ash
