A customer brought this ring in to replace the pearl. I had just taken delivery of a few from Nerida, and just by luck, they were a pretty close fit!
However, there is a hole in the bottom of the ring, where I expected a post to be, and a round pearl which fits the bezel sits up very high, & would be subject to much battering, which is probably what caused the original to fall out.
Is anyone familiar with this type of setting, & should it have a mabe, blister, or a button instead of round?

definitely a mabe pearl setting-if using a round pearl you will have to alter the setting to take a peg.

You could try a half pearl or 3/4 cut pearl as well but I'd be more inclined to go with a mabe

I also vote for a mabe. The bezel setting is intended for something with a flat back.

Ok, looks like my suspicions were correct. So who has Mabes in Australia? I dont recall being offered many from the suppliers I usually see, but then again I have never asked to see mabes...
