Yes, big difference. Which makes it all the more surprising that the jewelers I've visited usually show pearls on black velvet cloths. They are very similar but I favor the ones on the lower left and the lower right.

They seem to have a higher luster (again, that could be from the photo being more in focus in front??) and seem to show more orient-- I see some blue in the lower right one, but my fav. is the lower left one. But if the photo had been taken with the card turned the other way (so the upper row was the lower row and vice versa), it is possible that the top row pearls would show equal luster and orient... maybe it was just the position of the light and camera that were responsible.

Hi, Catahoula! Best wishes on your engagement! FYI: Natalie has been helping me pick a Freshadama strand, which is why I know that, until *after* the first week in September, she will be *SLAMMED* with work on a major photography/design project and the need to attend a week-long conference. Although she is a can-do powerhouse, even she is maxed-out right now. (Yikes!!!) CarolK

The top- and bottom-left ones really do seem to have the best luster. My favorite is the bottom left one, but I'm wondering whether or not their position relative to the light source and each other is enhancing their appearance.

Thank you all for your opinions!! Ashley is virtually reading my mind in this selection process. I started off saying merely a lustrous freshwater pearl, silver overtone with subtle orient shining up from within. I am olive complected and I want to wear this ring A LOT, so its been tricky finding the balance of color, luster and orient. Ashley says the top right (of the 6) is the most silver of the lot, from there I guess then bottom center then top center? But I agree that the left ones are the most lustrous. The top two pearls from this set of pix are also being considered. From here we are going to focus on the setting and who would fit best in it, then take another look at everyone, possibly with a neutral background and I did mention flipping the cards upside down to eliminate the possible focus/flash issue - thank you for that suggestion!! I am still eager to hear everyone's opinions ![]()

| Is it me? The bottom left on the black velvet is slightly yellowish (may not be complimentary to olive skin?) and the bottom right is slightly greenish. Top right looks slightly bluish and top left is more pinky. It could be my monitor. I like top left. I suggest adding a neutral background (closer to your skin tone) because the pearls may seem attractive on white background (where they show the overtone), they will look different on your complexion.

If its you, it was me too Those were the exact reasons I discarded the bottom 2 of the 4 set. The top 2 were similar enough to the majority of the 6 set, minus the bottom right which was a little too 'buttony' and blue for me.So 7 exquisite pearl buttons, WAY too many to choose from, my brain is all swimmy with the beauty And yes, I agree with the neutral background. I asked for the plain black and white because she was sending me pix of some eggy, oval, baroques from her desk and I wasn't able to see the lines (curves) clearly. I'm glad I did, even tho I was expecting her to just drop a cloth and keep showing me the pearls perched on the setting.I'm sure we will get back to that stage soon. I still have some of the eggy and ovals I couldn't bear to discard yet - even tho they are a bit out of my price range. Sure would be nice if we win the Lotto during all this and I can just, you know, get ALL OF THEM ![]()
