I forgot to say that I was using white card boxes and intending to divide the drawers somehow.
Then I looked at one of my Druzy bracelets in a black velvet-lined box and the penny dropped.
Now, I can quickly and easily choose what to wear. And the thought occurs to me to maybe wet the velvet cover cloth from time to time....

I looked at thepearldoctor.com and saw that they also offer pouches for storage. Their site also mentioned that suede pouches are nice too. I put my strands, earrings and rings in a leather jewelry roll lined with suede and store them in the small safe in the house. Thanks to all the posts. I will put a sponge in the safe now.
