Do you have any special precautions to suggest on the subject of traveling with pearls? Do you need to carry an appraisal or something to prove to US customs that you owned the jewelry and did not buy it while out of the country?

I have never heard of anyone needing specific documentation for stuff they already own. But then again I do not travel overseas only between Canada and the USA.

I always travel with quite a bit of pearls- enough to accessorize all my outfits! But I've never been questioned. Just travel with a reasonable amount - meaning, don't take an entire suitcase that makes you look suspiciously like a jewelry rep.
