| WSS= White South Seas GSS= Golden South Seas AKP= Akoya Pearls Mother of Pearl = The inner layer of mollusk shell; often used for buttons, etc. Not to be confused with an actual pearl. Cultured Pearls= "the raising of [mollusks], esp. with a view to their improvement" from dictionary.com; or to grow in a controlled environment.
