This list server is used by professional unio (mussel) scientists.

It is a bit hard to read, but they especially want people who are cultivating mussels to join and contribute to the list. This might be a good resource for Richard as far as growing and maintaining mussles in captivity goes.

If you sign up, and it takes a couple of days, read through the posts in "In Troubled Waters". It discusses the dangers and ill effects scientists are facing in diving around in polluted rivers studying mussels.
