Here is a photo of my latest ebay purchase from Care Ehret. She must have recently started up working in sterling silver because there are two pieces there and I just got one! (I've been hoping she'd do something in white gold or silver *forever*.) I'm up to my eyeballs in my own jewelry work and here I am buying more pearl stuff. <sigh>
My husband just bought his mid-life crisis Mustang and I negotiated a pearl budget...so look out pearl world...woo hoo.

Yes, she occasionally does do silver, I have a similar piece with turquoise and love it, also one rather like the 9mm peachy-pink pearl starburst pendant with granulation. Lucky you, they go fast! I don't recall seeing any white gold, but I could have missed a few things . Good for you having a Pearl Budget!!!

Pattye
so many pearls, so little time

just realised this probably should go over on the ebay thread or fw pearls, sorry

Hi, Care does have some beautiful pieces. Maybe she will get more in silver in the future. I doubt if the goldsmiths she works with use white gold but silver yes. The thing about silver is you can get a really substantial piece, such as your beauty silverseajewellery without the pain in the pocket.

I can't stop buying pearls either, even though I have a lot of the darlings I cannot stop lusting after more and more. I just won two more items on eBay last night. I am a shocker. Will post their photos later, maybe on a new thread. One is a ring with so called natural pearl and the other is multi coloured FW pearls a long, long strand. And once again I got lucky. Plan to work with the FW pearls, designing and keep the beautiful ring. Even wear it. All of my rings are pearls except my wedding ring and a sapphire ring. But I am very careful not to hurt my darling pearl rings so I don't wear them often. Silly isn't it.

I love some of the Gold SS Keishi pearls Care has at the moment. I think a lot of us have bought from Carolyn. Think she has some beautiful Sea of Cortez pearls up at the moment too. They are out of my league although I would love them dearly.

Might just pop in one photo of my ring and see what you think of it. I love it.

But girls - can you tell me what a Budget is

Bo

Hi Bo,

That is very lovely! I love the pearl of course, and the cut outs on the shank. Good sleuthing!! Guess you will have to ask silversea about the budget thingy!!

Hi Bo,

I love that ring of yours. The pearl is great of course but I really go for the goldwork around it. BTW when replying I want to corect something I said about your brooch. I wrote "little brooch", but I wasn´t thinking in terms of size at all, it came just out wrong - because I just tried to tell you what a lovely little piece you got there. It is not that small at all and it does look just as nice as your ring.

Thanks Jerin, I wouldn't have given it more than a quick glance if it wasn't for the pearl but it was the goldwork that decided me to bid on it. Because it is just so beautiful. The setting has to be right unless the pearl is so great I just want to drool over it. I do like the pearl too and live in hope that it is a natural. Seller had it listed as a natural pearl but I am not sure about that. Still it does look good and it might be. There is actually a tiny hairline crack on the shank at the back but it is really nothing but must be the reason I won it so easily & cheaply. I don't think it is even worth having repaired it is so minor that only a hugely enlarged photo would show it. The seller added the minor flaw bit late in the listing and not in the main part so I missed it but it wouldn't have put me off. Just over $70 is just a bargain for it.

I didn't take your remark about the little brooch as a slur. I did think maybe you mis-read the size though. The brooch is a real favourite though. I adore that and actually have the seller looking for a different kind of brooch/brooches for me. I just started collecting them a month or so ago. I hope I can wear that one as an enhancer. The FW one in Silver will be easy to use that way. Set up for it. I must stop browsing thru ebay because I always spot something I think I need - hah.

I am a peal sleuth for sure. Smell the little buggers out I go on a search, just browsing - hah - when I am fed up with listing & just need a break. But I always find something. I love the cut outs on the shank too. Much better than have diamonds stuck there. Doesn't look mass produced to me and maybe it is a one off. The seller said it was from 1910 but I am not sure about that. Regardless it is beautiful.

As for the budget thingy. I don't think I would understand how to go about it. Bit to technical for me Pearl lust is a terrible, wonderful condition but can be dangerous as I am sure most of us know.

The photo I have of the FW multi coloured pearls I won are really bad but I might list one later tonight in the FW forum. But they looked worth having just for all the colours. Won't be as good as Jeremy's Exotics but have that kind of look. Or am I just seeing what I want to see. That is always a possibility with me.

Bo

Hi Bo,

I am not given to just browse, but I certainly would like to have a ring like yours. Do you know whether you seller has some more in this absolutely gorgeous price range?

Hi Bodecia,
All your Ebay finds are lovely. I am lusting after your gold pearl brooch and ring. They are so unusual and quite beautiful.

Sigh,
Lucky man.
I'd actually swap a fair few of my pearls for a Mustang......
Isn't the mid-life crisis great ?

Love your pendant, too, Silversea.
I once had something very similar, but set with amethysts.

The seller only had one pearl ring and that was it. Mostly diamonds and other gemstone rings. It is not hard to find this type of ring but you just have to do the right kind of search and do it often until you find what you want. Many will go sky high but sometimes you just get a feel you are bidding on the right item and that for some reason others aren't seeing what you are. Don't know how to explain how I win so many items at good prices other than a 6th sense but it is often up to the orginal type of search you do. And how you bid, that is important. Very important. PM me ... will be up for another 3 hours. Have items to pack to post off tomorrow so have to finish that off but am doing the last lots in front of my computer so will check back every 1/2 hour or so.

So what I need to know is what exactly are you looking for. Age, type of gold, pearl type, just everything you can think of that you want in a ring. Then I can think up good searches for you to keep trying. Or several different searches, different ways etc. PM me if you want. If I get time tonight I will do a couple of quick searches for similar rings.

Thanks so much. Haven't got them yet but I am sure they will arrive safely. 99 out of 100 do. Lusting after pearls and pearl items is something I understand all too well.

Bo

I'm using the "just starting to build my collection" excuse to create a budget guideline [ahem]. So far no luck on a number or a percentage of my GDP, though. Advice is needed here!

An Oda to the Budget on Pearls

Budget for pearls is something like Harry Potter potions:
You take a bit of your regular budget,
And add something which was successfully moved
From one of your pockets to another one,

After some time bring in some extra from what you managed to sell
Because you realised that you want pearls more that other things you get before!
After mixing and stiring
You get an acceptable (so far) budget for pearls
Which you spend usually in one strech for some next object of passion,

...And then it starts all over again.

In the 'accumulation phase' you earnestly believe that now you REALLY REALLY stop and don't buy pearls anymore

Hi jerin,

You still have me chuckling over our language barrier. But here is a link that I think will take you to one of my items and from there you should be able to look at the rest of my offerings or items.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GENUINE-TAHITIAN...QQcmdZViewItem

I have never linked my ebay name before so not sure it will work. If not just try dawncee333 as I told you. You are a barrel of laughs or Goldfish. Please don't take that the wrong way. Meant in the best of friendship. Will add a couple of my latest loves so you can see what I mean. Hope I can manage to size at the moment, especially after 2 to 4 beers. Think I managed.

Will, and am at the moment doing my searches for you for a suitable ring. Wish I had one for you that I could bear to part with but you know what it is like. Love, lust for pearls. When I find what you want I will post to you details and you can decide if you want to bid or get me to do it for you.

You are a scream and I do wish I could speak Chinese, but I can't. If any regulars can maybe you could translate for us. Our in depth language barriers are hilarious but won't help Jerin find her pearl ring as fast. Will keep looking Jerin. promise when I find a suitable one it will be for you and not me even if it kills me.

Bye for now, Bodecia aka Dawn
dawncee333 on eBay - finally out of the closet as being a dreaded eBay seller. But I am an honest one and look after my customers.
