I can relate to plasticine, but it is kind of oily- maybe sculpy would be better.

What great suggestions! I think I will try them before I try to score some Play-Doh from my niece.

Wow, that IS a good suggestion! I don't know about yall, but I love to make the earrings. I really like the meticulous detail involved. I keep going back to check on them...just looking, like I'm watching a baby being born.

My husband gave me a gorgeous pair for our wedding, and I lost one. SO...naturally I replaced them with some even hunkier, more expensive ones I showed him exactly what to do, and he set the pearls himself. Makes them that much more special.

Hi Danachit, Caitlin, DFrey and all members!

Sculpy: would that be another kind of plasticine? Sounds great for keeping the pearls in place.

Danachit, is your husband by now an addict to pearls too?

DFrey: thanks for a splendid idea!

Sculpy is more like play doh. However, when you are done, you can bake it and it will harden up. But until you bake it, it stays soft if you store it in a closed container.

Jerin ~ my husband is a cigar-smoking, boot-wearin', gun shooting, palomino-riding cowboy. Picture John Wayne and Moses rolled into one. There'd have to be guns or spittin' or bridles inside an oyster for him to be interested... That's why I cherish those earrings all the more! It was a one shot deal!

Maybe Pteria Penguin could be nucleated with "mini-bridles" to get him interested in pearls.....

Wait a minute... isn't MOP a trimming of choice for all sorts of fancy Western paraphernalia? Those guys seem to know their mollusks as well as we do (black-lip knife handles and pteria rifle-something). Maybe you could share the passion - you take the pearl, him the shell

This is a great subject, except in our house I am the one who rides everything. Motorcycles, horses, you name it. But, my Clark Kent husband is actually a 2nd degree blackbelt. His idea of a good time? Coming home with a black eye because somebody was quicker than him and he got to learn a new fighting move.
barbie
Last week was an exception. Those black eyes don't count.

PS 11 Wonder if I could get him interested in a MOP Yin and Yan decal for the belt on his gee?
