The ball clasp shape looks really nice with a strand of pearls, IMO. The simple way the round shape falls into synch with the pearls really works nicely - it has even caught my husband's eye - not at all a jewelery person. What about adding the stripe of diamonds for some "punch?"

*edit* The other clasps, senora and toggle, both look great. I particularly like the senora on a bracelet which was posted I-can't-recall-where on the forum.

Oooh,
Difficult decision....
If it were me, I'd probably opt for the Tahitians; although I have a couple of the baroque f.w. strands and they are nice....

Clasps - I love the ball clasps because they blend in so well when joining strands to wear as a single, long rope.
However, the senora clasp is very handy as you can usually hang a pendant from it.......

Isn't that dependent on the size of the pearls and the rest of the outfit?

If the outfit is primarily dark or black, then the white FWP will stand out and contrast better than the Tahitians, and vice versa, IMHO

That's coming from someone who like strong contrasts and bold colours, just look at my car in my avatar - in real life, she is red with a lime green roof and wing mirrors

I love ball clasps in any form, preferably encrusted in diamonds

That's what my new gem-grade necklace will have, pave diamond ball clasp, along with 6 diamond rondelles

The most expensive strand of Akoyas I bought from ES Store, was really for the clasp which is a 9mm pave diamond ball. The price I paid for the entire strand was way below the price of the clasp alone - Jeremy is right about that one!

I later re-strung it with my baroque Tahitian strand to dress it up

Iīd say go for the tahitians and the normal ball clasp since you arenīt too keen on the toggle for this strand. Use the money you save on not buying an expensive clasp on the freshwaters.

I sort of consider everything above 100 to be "very expensive" for a clasp, I think I just prioritize pearls more.

n yellow gold for the tahitians
I gotta suggest going with white gold for tahitians, yellow gold just doesn't look as crisp to me.

For me personally, no its not. I find the shapes of Tahitian baroques to be more attractive then the typical FW baroque shapes. Thats just me and I will admit I have a soft spot for baroque tahitians just look at my avatar

And Pattye as always let me know if you have somethign special in mind I'll be happy to help.

Really? That's funny because I LOVE white gold for almost everything, but on most strands that I've seen, the yellow gold and the peacock overtones seemed to work so well together. Hmm.. may have to reconsider this then.

Donīt worry Callire, I think too, that yellow gold would look best with that strand. I`m biased, though.

(besides, the clasp will just hang on the back of your neck, not on the front.)

I think it does depend on the overtones. I like yellow gold with the obviously peacock/greens, but white gold with the aquas/greys. I think either would work with this particular strand, so go for it!

Gold work colour is quite personal IMHO.

I had my "colours" analysed, and it turned out I am a "Winter". Browns and beiges do not suit me, and definitely not yellow gold.

I know there must be a reason why I do not like wearing yellow gold from a very young age, and hates anything brown!

Yes, go with the color of gold you prefer, either will work.

Dear Callire:
I just love the Tahitians you are looking at! Last year I bought some silver ones from PP and they were just beautiful. I kept them for a while, (I'm Irish-I had a feeling about them). When my sister was separated from her husband last winter she was depressed so I gave them to her as a 'just because' gift. She loved them. And you know what? Every time we went out for tea or dinner she would wear them to show me she loved them. I kept seeing their soft silver gleam on her neck. Her blond hair would brush their aqua highlights as we talked. By the time she went back to California I was sold. Someday I'm going to buy Tahitians for me!
You should get 'em. They're amazing in person.
The longer you look, the more you like. Doesn't even really matter that they are PPB's or that they are AA+ instead of AAA. They're Tahitian!

This made me smile I think I'm going to get the Tahitians, but I'm going to wait a little bit longer until I pad my pearl fund a little bit and get through midterms with great grades (what better motivation to do well than tahitians?) I'm happy; I just got an A on one of my essays (good considering I'm going to be a writer)
