I have and I can't quite tell. Maybe it would be better to just buy them bracelets? They are in a wedding this year and the bride wants pearl jewelry and they each have earrings and they want to wear bracelets...but maybe it might not be worth it.

Hi again Jody,

I would definitely consider purchasing bracelets, our online trusted vendors have some lovely fw pearl choices, and you could get 2 for less than you were quoted for restringing! Many are offered in 7" which might be an ok size for your girls, but could be made shorter if necessary. I saw some for $45-$60 that might be good choices. This way your girls would have a very special beautiful bracelet from Mom . That might give you more time to decide what to do about the necklace, and find out for sure if it is "real" pearl. Just a few thoughts----

so many pearls, so little time

Thanks for the advice, probably the best thing to do especially since I am not sure about the pearl strand. I will look at one of the online vendors and see what might be best for my girls.

Hi Jody,
you see, there is every reason that you do the job for yourself once you have practised a bit... and you can take away the pearls without luster, and the ones too small (it takes a better command of knotting to get the knots really tiny next to a tiny pearl), I thought for myself that they are imitation but it is not easy to tell from pictures only. Have you compared the weight to some 2 or 3 combined strands? If glass, they should be really heavy and the tooth test might help too... what did they say at the jewellers shop?
