I have recently been given Hitamura Pearls from Japan.

I haven't found anything on the web about them.

I believe they are cultured.

The only reason I know they are Hitamura is because of the box they were given to me in.

Do you know about Hitamura? Any background info would be great. My grandfather purchased them in Japan over 20 years ago and they were just given to me.

Thank you,
kg

Is there any chance the name could be 'Kitamura' with a 'K', not an 'H'?

it's possible because the logo associated looks like a "K"

I would assume it is likely a 'K'. The name Kitamura is much more common than Hitamura.
There is a Kitamura Pearl Company in Tokyo. I cannot find an email address for them, but I do have their address, telephone, and fax. You should direct your question to them as they would be best suited to discuss the piece.
