as to budget I don't have lots of money, but would be willing to wait and save for the perfect accompaniment, I can go to hundreds i guess but definately NOT thousands LOL .
I did see one company where you could buy 4-6 pearls at a time and save up that way but I don't know if that is a good idea.

The other thing I've been thinking is i would like to know how to string my own necklace but, I haven't had much luck finding classes in the area.

Hi Beth C,

Just my opinion, but not a good idea to buy a few pearls at a time, they just won't match.

Hopefully you can meet up with Wendy, as she is certainly an expert, and can help you find just what you want. If you choose freshwaters, they are very reasonable in cost, and beautiful; no need to spend thousands at all!

Maybe you could watch her string and knot your necklace, but be careful, knotting, like pearls, is very addictive-better than a video game!

Since that is a dressy kind of clasp, I would be tempted to put a few sapphires in the strand itself.

If it is "Gemologist", shouldn't it also be "Pearlologist"?

You aren't far, so come down to the workshop and we can work out your design and you can pick exactly which pearls you want.

That is so true .
First neclace was hard - making the knot close on the right spot. But since then fun fun fun...
