Cheng Tai Po, vice president of the pearling giant Man Sang Group and myself(Kevin Canning, President of PearlsOfJoy.com) were recently interviewed for an article on the future of cultured Akoya pearls.

A little known trend that has been happening as of late is the large scale importation of loose Chinese Akoya pearls to Japan. These Japanese factories then turn around sell the resulting pearl strands as Japanese pearls and of course inflate the price to match true Japanese grown pearls.
