I've only applied olive oil once to some of my strands. I really could not tell if they look shinier. Sometimes I wonder if using oil would even attract dust on the pearls' surfaces.
As far as daily wear, when I take them off, I use a spray bottle of distilled water to wet the pearl cloth (from the vendors here) and wipe them down.
