Pearls are organic, and as such, need moisture. If pearls are kept in an airtight environment for a few years the luster will dull, and their value will diminish dramatically. Pearls also soak up oils from the skin which will add to their luster (making it deeper) over time.
the one thing to be extremely careful of, however, is to never spray perfume or hairspray on or around the pearls. This will destroy the pearls. |
