Sunshine cloth should be used very careful when it comes to polishing pearls. I think You use is mostly to polish metals (light scratches on a metal band for example).

As you said it looks like it is mainly used for mentals but I saw that Zeide recommended it on a previous post. Said it did a great job of polishing a Tahitian bracelet that a friend had worn along side a watch, hence scratching it. Do you know if the sunshine cloth is similar to gold and silver cleaning cloths? Probably worth buying one and testing it on an inferior pearl as a test piece.
I do have more than a few inferior ones as well as my lovelies.
